I obtained a Ph.D. in the joint fields of Ancient History and Arabic Studies at the Ludwig-Maximilians-Universität Munich and the University of Basel. I am currently a member of the research group on Arabic Papyrology at the LMU Munich and research fellow at the Israel Institute of Advanced Studies in the framework of the research group Cultural Brokerage in pre-Modern Islam.
My research interests include representation of authority during the transition from the late antique to the early Islamicate Middle East, Social history of the Umayyad and early Abbasid Empire, Arabic papyrology and diplomatics, and cultural liminality and multiglossia in early Islamicate societies.
