Prof. Dr. Stefan Heidemann, professor of Islamic Studies at the Asia-Africa Institute, Univerität Hamburg coorganises the online roundtable discussion “Sources of Islamic Culture in Central Asia” in cooperation with the Center of Islamic Civilization in Uzbekistan and the Imam Bukhari International Research Center.
The discussion will take place on March 26,2024 at 11:00 central Europian Time and Prof. Dr. Stefan Heidemann will contribute to it with his talk on "Coins as sources for Early Islamic Mawara’annahr", while Prof. Dr. Kurt Franz, research associate at the RomanIslam - Center for Comparative Empire and Transcultural Studies, Universität Hamburg, will talk on "Why read Arabic Geography? The Eastward Manuscript Distribution of Yāqūt al-Ḥamawī’s Muʿjam al-buldān, and Thoughts on Central Asian Readership".
