We are pleased to announce that the 7th lecture series on the history and culture of Central Asia will take place online via Zoom during the summer term of 2024. This joint initiative is led by Prof. Dr. Stefan Heidemann, Department of Islamic Studies at the Asien-Afrika-Institut (Universität Hamburg), and Dr. Shovosil Ziyodov, director of İmam Bukhari International Scientific Research Center in Tashkent, Uzbekistan.
The Zerafshan Valley history and culture series will commence with Dr. Mekhrojiddin Amonov Uzbekovich, Head of the Scientific Research Department at the Imam Bukhari Center.

Profile of the lecturer:
Mekhrojiddin Amonov Uzbekovich is the Head of the Scientific Research Department at the Imam Bukhari International Scientific Research Center. He earned his PhD in historical sciences from the International Islamic Academy of Uzbekistan in November 2021 and was awarded the academic title of 'Senior Researcher' in June 2023, specializing in the 'History and Source Study of Islam'.
Mekhrojiddin Amonov has authored numerous articles, brochures, and monographs. His scientific research focuses on the life and scientific activities of mā warā al-nahr scientists, specifically the teachings of Sufism. This includes a number of ṭarīqas such as Naqshbandiya, Yassawiyya, Kubrawiyya, Ishqiya, and the scientific and spiritual heritage of their Sufi representatives. He examines the history of rare handwritten sources, historical documents such as court records, waqfs, wills, irshads, and epigraphic monuments like mosques, mausoleums, khanakas, and chillahonas.
