On Saturday and Sunday, April 17-18, 2021, from 9.00 am to 1.00 pm New York time, Hofstra University will hold the Thirteenth Seminar on Middle Eastern and Central Asian Numismatics In Memoriam Boris Kochnev (1940-2002). This year the sessions will be virtual with Zoom. As a result, the Seminar is open to participants from every continent.
The Saturday session will be for ancient numismatics, up to 650 CE, and the Sunday session for the Islamic period. Prof. Alexander Naymark, Aleksandr.Naymark@hofstra.edu, will co-ordinate the ancient session and Dr. Michael L. Bates, Tiesenhausen@gmail.com, will handle the Islamic session on Sunday.
If you are interested in presenting a paper, please write to Naymark or Bates before March 20.
We want the title and a brief abstract by April 5. The geography of presentations can range from the coasts of the Mediterranean Sea to the deserts of Xinjiang, while the time frame excludes only modern times. Talks should not exceed 20 minutes, leaving 10 minutes for questions and the introduction of the next speaker.
The conference is free of charge and open to the public. Please let us know also if you wish to attend without presenting.
