On Monday, May 8, 2017, the first webinar of 2017/2018 will start. The lectures will be hold on mondays between 6 and 8 pm CET. All students participating in this webinar should have been already informed by Prof. Kaplony.
Under the title "Papyrus Letters from Umayyad and Abbasid Egypt", Prof. Andreas Kaplony will introduce students into the field of Arabic Papyrology. This webinar is also part of the Arabic Papyrology Webclass.
Course Description:
Letters provide an unrivaled insight into everyday life. In the course of this term, we will deal with a wet nurse on strike, an unlucky heir, the boycott of Christians, a fugitive peasant, orders given to a travelling junior business partner, etc. Within this webinar, unpublished unpublished letters from the Vienna Collection will be read and discussed.
